It all started a year ago. We bought the house and I knew for sure we were going to have to do some changes. Blue is not my thing but it was obviously the previous owners’ favorite color. I like the colonial blue but it had to go. I wanted something brighter…happier…I chose black. It is my favorite color and it looks great for trim on a house. I chose to go with the Blue Hawk Black Gloss spray paint. I liked the paint except for the way it sprayed but it looked great. It has been a year and the shutters look fabulous still!
See!? So much better. A trip to Lowe’s and picked the paint. I also had to purchase some vinyl shutter spikes (black of course). It took me a full day to take down the old shutters. There were some wasp nests in some of them and when I get stung by a wasp I blow up like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow character on the Ghostbusters. So it took time to kill them suckers off. I also had to have Jason help me with the tallest ones seeing as he is taller than his garden gnome wife. I was excited about this project. It was going to make the home feel more like ours.
As you can see, there is blue everywhere. Blue shutters, blue trim, blue bathtub, blue toilet….blue everywhere. It as already starting to look good. Even with the shutters off. This is one side that I needed Jason’s assistance. He is tall. He doesn’t care too much for DIY projects but he is always willing to help when it is a definite must.
Well, the shutters were on. After a year, I still love the look of the paint. My next project was to paint the blue brick so it would match the shutters. It didn’t happen last year so I am putting it on the top of my list this year.
On to my next project!
