As you know, I am not a fan of blue. When we got the house, it seemed like if it could be blue, the previous owners made it blue. This post is about the fabulously old bathroom that is getting remodeled with a new shower and a new toilet. The bathtub was blue, the toilet was blue (good thing they were matching). The sink was also blue but we are going to fix that hopefully this summer.
We had talked to the Bath Fitter people at the Pumpkin Festival. They seem like nice showers. We scheduled a meeting and talked to the guy for a while. They have monthly payment plans and we decided to dive in. Anything to get rid of the blue. We decided on a walk in shower with a bar. I thought it would be a good idea since if anything happened to my parents, I would be taking care of them so it only made since to get something that would benefit them and me if something would happen to them.
Bath Fitter have different options to pick from. They do offer to put a shower over the existing shower but I just wasn’t feeling the “lets simply hide the blue.” I asked them about taking out the bathtub so we can have a handicapped accessible bathtub. Not a problem. It would take a day and a half rather than the one day installation with a regular covering the bathtub situation. I was okay with that. We scheduled the appointment, which was December 23 and 24…yeah….they worked those days.
Finally. The day of demolition of the nasty blue bathtub.
I was so excited to get rid of this. If it would have been possible, I would have wanted to have a big bonfire outside. Anyway…It was leaving and a new white, clean, modern looking shower was being installed.
The guy took out quite a few of the tile and then put a barrier where the tile was. I thought that I had a picture of it but evidently I did not get the picture. Work went smoothly and it was surprisingly not that loud. I thought with his having to take out a cast iron bathtub, that the demolition would be annoyingly and obnoxiously loud. I was pleasantly wrong.
I like the way it turned out. We have used it for a while now and everything is really nice. No problems at all. It really changed the look of the bathroom.
I’m glad we decided to take the plunge. It is well worth the money.
The house is starting to feel like our home now and not somewhere we feel someone else owns and we just pay to live there.
Okay. Until next time.
