Quinoa is a great food for those who want to change their carbs around to something more healthy. Quiona has antioxidant phyto-nutrients that compare to eating cranberries. In case you haven’t heard, antioxidants are molecules that inhibit the oxidation of of other molecules. That is good news because when molecules oxidate, it can cause havoc in the body. Quinoa also has anti-inflammatory properties in it, which can help the body.
One thing I learned about quinoa and how it would benefit people, is that it is a complete protein. Many grains fall short of having several amino acids in which quinoa has. This is good information for anyone who workouts out. It is a good nutritious snack for anyone who has worked out because quinoa snacks will help in repairing muscle because it is a complete protein.
Anyway, quinoa has many beneficial nutritional quantities.
So, one of my favorite snacks (since I don’t touch pizza) is quinoa bites.
My recipe list calls for (yours can be different..be creative!!)
1 cup quino
spices (oregano, tumeric, hot pepper flakes, pepper)
chopped up onion
shredded fat free cheese
Black Olives (chopped)
And some sauce to dip these bad boys in!
Preheat the over to 400.
mini muffin pan
Cook your quinoa and turkey sausage until cooked. Once they are ready, simply dump everything into a bowl (except the egg shell) and stir it together. Spoon the mixture into the mini muffin pan and cook for 15 minutes.
This is quick and easy and they are so yummy good. You can eat them hot, warm, or cold. Be sure to use the dipping sauce. I use pizza sauce.
So, that is one of my go-to snacks when I am craving pizza foods that I try to avoid now.
Until next time!
